Region Ranking Methodology

Region Volleyball Power Score

Score = (Peak Quality × 0.25) + (Elite Strength × 0.25) + (Adjusted Average × 0.20) + (Breadth × 0.20) + (Elite Density × 0.10). All components normalized to 0-100 scale.

Components

  • Peak Quality (25%): Average score of top 3 clubs in the region.
  • Elite Strength (25%): Number of elite clubs (above national 75th percentile).
  • Adjusted Average (20%): Bayesian-adjusted average club score blended with national average.
  • Breadth (20%): Total club count relative to the largest region.
  • Elite Density (10%): Percentage of elite clubs.

Region Assignment

Each club is bucketed into a USAV region using its AES TeamCode suffix (the 2-letter region code), with the state's default region as a fallback for clubs without AES data.
