a) Information You Provide: Contact information, account details, and feedback you submit.
b) Automatically Collected Information: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URLs. We use Google Analytics and cookies for this data.
We do not accept accounts created by children under 13. We do, however, publish information about minors — including players under 13 — that comes from publicly posted tournament and club rosters rather than from the players themselves. The next section explains exactly what we publish at each age, what we withhold, and how a parent or guardian can have a profile removed.
Most of the athletes on VolleyLens are minors. We think you are entitled to a plain description of what that means, so this section says exactly what we publish, what we hold back, and how to get a profile taken down.
a) Where the data comes from. Player information is compiled from rosters, schedules, and results that clubs, tournaments, and event platforms publish openly on the web. We do not obtain it from the player, and we do not ask a player under 13 for anything. That also means no one has asked you first — which is why the controls below exist and why we apply them by default rather than on request.
b) What we publish, by age. For players in the 14U through 18U age groups whose profiles have not been claimed, we publish the player’s name, jersey number, position, team, club, and the team’s competitive record. This is the information that makes the site useful for college recruiting, which is what most players and families in these age groups come to us for.
For players in the 10U through 13U age groups whose profiles have not been claimed, there is no recruiting purpose, so we publish less. We show a first name and last initial only — not a full name — alongside jersey number, position, team, and club. We do not publish a graduation year for these players, and their individual profile pages are excluded from search engines.
For every unclaimed minor, regardless of age, we withhold the photograph, hometown, height and other physical measurements, school, academic information, contact details, video, and references, even where that information exists in our records.
c) Claimed profiles and parental control. A player who is 16 or older may claim their own profile. For younger players, the profile must be claimed and managed by a parent or legal guardian, and for players under 13 that claim is reviewed by a person before it takes effect. Once a profile is claimed, the restrictions above give way to the settings the owner chooses — including whether the full name, photo, and recruiting details are shown, and to whom.
d) Removing a profile. If you are a parent or legal guardian and you want a profile removed, use the “Request removal” link on the player’s page, or email legal@volleylens.com with the player’s name and team. You do not need an account, and you do not need to give a reason. Removal also adds the player to a list that prevents the profile from being recreated the next time we import that roster.
We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com.
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The "help" feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

We use cookies to analyze traffic, improve performance, and remember your preferences. See our Cookie Notice for details.
We never exchange your personal information for money, and we never provide your email address, account details, or player profile information to anyone for their own marketing.
We do, however, work with an advertising network (Mediavine) that receives your IP address, device and browser information, general location, and a hashed form of your email address if you have given us one, and uses it to show interest-based ads. Under California law that is a “sale” or “share” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands for the data. We would rather say so plainly than hide behind the fact that we are not paid for it. You can opt out here, without an account.
We share data with advertising partners (Mediavine and its partners; Google), analytics providers (Google Analytics), service providers that operate the platform on our behalf (hosting, database, email delivery, payment processing), and legal authorities if required by law.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
To opt out of sale or sharing, use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, linked from the footer of every page. We also recognize the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out request and honor it automatically.
Consumers under 16 are not opted in to the sale or sharing of their personal information. Personalized advertising is switched off entirely on youth player, team, club and player-directory pages, and individual minors’ profile pages carry no advertising at all. VolleyLens can broadcast a match live to your own YouTube channel. This is entirely optional — if you never connect a channel, nothing in this section applies to you.
When you connect, Google asks you to grant the “Manage your YouTube account” permission. That is the only permission YouTube offers for creating live broadcasts; there is no narrower one. We use it only to create a live broadcast on your channel when you start one in VolleyLens and end it when you finish, to read that broadcast’s status so we can tell you whether YouTube is receiving your stream, and to delete a broadcast from your channel when you delete it in VolleyLens.
We do not read, modify, or delete any other videos, playlists, comments, subscribers, or account settings, and we never post anything you did not start yourself.
To avoid asking you to sign in before every match, we store the refresh token Google issues. It is encrypted at rest, is used only to obtain access tokens for the actions above, and is never sold or shared with third parties. Deleting your VolleyLens account deletes it.
VolleyLens’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. By connecting a channel you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s own handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
You can revoke VolleyLens’s access at any time — from Me → Streaming → Disconnect YouTube inside the app, or at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking stops all of the above immediately; broadcasts already published stay on your channel until you delete them.
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
a) Account deletion. You can request deletion of your account at any time from My Account → Danger Zone → Delete my account. Requests are reviewed by an administrator before they take effect, and you can cancel a pending request from the same page. Once approved, the account is soft-deleted: you are signed out and removed from public-facing rankings, claim flows, and recruiter tools, while records are retained in a deactivated state to preserve audit trails. For full erasure after soft-deletion, email legal@volleylens.com.
b) Player profile removal. Player profiles are built from publicly available roster data. If you are the player, a parent or legal guardian of a minor on the site, or you have a legitimate privacy concern, use the “Request removal” link on any player profile, team roster, or player directory page. You do not need an account. Requests concerning a minor are honored by default. You can also email legal@volleylens.com with the player’s name and team.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
