We turn volleyball into insight.
VolleyLens brings transparency and data-driven insights to youth club volleyball. We believe every team deserves fair, comprehensive rankings based on actual match performance — not politics or perception.
We use a sophisticated Elo rating system starting at a base of 1500 points. Teams gain or lose points based on match outcomes, with the K-factor of 32 determining rating volatility. Our system aggregates data from multiple public tournament sources including USAV, AAU/JVA, and SoCal Cup tournaments.
40,000+ teams · 500,000+ matches · 500+ tournaments · 50 states · Youth club & college club divisions
VolleyLens is built by a father-son team united by a shared passion for volleyball and technology.
A computer scientist, stats enthusiast, and AI practitioner who first picked up a volleyball in college and never put it down. Over 25 years of playing, coaching, and eventually navigating the youth club volleyball system as a parent — watching his son compete from 14U through 18U and the college recruiting process — he gained a front-row seat to the tools the volleyball community relies on. The takeaway was clear: the data was fragmented across silos, rankings were opaque, and families deserved better. Armed with a deep background in software engineering and a conviction that transparency wins, he set out to build what he wished had existed all along.
A player who grew up inside the system, understanding firsthand what athletes, teammates, and coaches actually need from a rankings platform. Now an emerging AI engineer focused on computer vision and deep learning, he brings the technical chops and the insider perspective that keeps VolleyLens grounded in real player experience rather than abstract metrics.
Together, we combine decades of volleyball knowledge with modern engineering to deliver tools that are open, data-driven, and built for the community — not for gatekeepers. Every feature on VolleyLens exists because one of us wished it existed when we needed it most.
