Lakewood Area Volleyball Association (LAVA) was created in 2012 to provide girls in Sampson County, North Carolina with the opportunity to compete in USA Volleyball's Carolina Region. The club emphasizes character development alongside competitive volleyball, with a motto of 'Making a Difference On and Off the Court.' LAVA has produced eight college volleyball players and serves as the only volleyball club operating out of Sampson County.
