Tournament Competitiveness Index (TCI) Methodology

The TCI score measures overall tournament quality on a 0-100 scale, combining team strength, competitive balance, and prestige factors.

Score Components

  • Average Team Elo: Mean Elo rating of all participating teams. Higher average means stronger field.
  • Competitive Balance: How evenly matched the teams are. Tournaments where many teams can compete for the title score higher.
  • Prestige Score: Based on the number and quality of elite teams (1700+ Elo) in the tournament field.
  • Team Count: Larger tournaments with more teams demonstrate broader competitive appeal.
  • Match Count: More matches provide more data points for reliable ratings.
